Ethiopian: Ghenet - 284 Mulberry Street (Prince & Houston Streets)
I haven't been to many Ethiopian restaurants, but this is my favorite. In fact, I had food from Ghenet as one of the buffet stations at my wedding. Ethiopian is great for groups (the larger the better) so that you can try more dishes. If you have to choose just a few, I recommend the Siga Wett (spicy prime rib) and the Yebeg Tibs (lamb marinated in wine). The vegetarian dishes are excellent also, especially the Atkelt Wett (cabbage, potatos, and carrots in a mild caramelized onion sauce). Everything is eaten using injera, which is a kind of sponge-y flat bread, and your hands.
Note: the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable, but the service is very slow (but friendly).
