Chinese: XO - 148 Hester Street (Elizabeth Street & Bowery)

XO features an amazingly long menu of authentic Hong Kong-style dishes (and some Japanese noodle soups). Most of the clientele is Chinese, but the staff is extremely accommodating of non-Chinese as well. You often have to wait a few minutes for a seat, but the service is quick and friendly, and they speak English well. I particularly recommend the Fresh Shrimp Rice Noodle with Chinese Vegetable and the Noodle with Crystal Clear Shrimp Wonton soups.
